| Alternative route to Mt. Cho Oyu |
The Government of Nepal has declared open a new alternative route to Mt. Cho-Oyu (8,201m.).
As per the information made available by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), climbers are permitted to use the Lukla-Namche-Gokyo-Ngozumbakang route. The new route is an alternative route to the old caravan trail.
The ministry stated that the climbers would not have to pay any royalty for climbing the 7,734-metre Mt. Ngozumbakang if they used the trail in course of scaling Mt. Cho-Oyu. However, the government would continue charging royalty from climbers if they climbed only Mt. Ngozumbakang.
The government stopped allowing climbers to attempt Mt. Cho-Oyu through the old caravan trail over the last decade because of some hitches.
Unique Adventure International Pvt. Ltd. itself also offer Mt. Cho Oyu expedition from this route. |
